Grand Army Arts

Lisa Pixley and Christopher Campbell and their two dogs moved to Whitefield, Maine to build their dream studio in the 1871 Parish Meeting Hall building. They are in the process of renovating this historic location and developing a community center for the arts. Cove Design Works was called in to create a logo identity system and a website to sell Lisa’s hand printed works and to keep the community in-the-know about classes, workshops, and future residency programs.

Logo Design

We knew we wanted to use some textural elements from Lisa Pixley’s incredible print work in the logo for Grand Army Arts. We wanted the logo and signage to “nod” at some military colors, but wanted to push the limits with a modern twist. Lisa also loves some good contrast and keeping her viewers on their toes. Enter MAGENTA, one of the three primary colors, along with cyan and yellow, used to print all the colors in the world. It’s a risky color choice and makes a bold visual statement. Perfect!

Website design

Grand Army Arts is posed to become a bustling community hub for the arts. With Lisa and Christopher at the helm, it’s sure to be a success. Their years of experience creating artist communities in Portland, Maine, has prepared them to make it happen in a more rural neighborhood.

The website needed to showcase Lisa’s prints for sale and also list her upcoming workshops and residencies. It also acts as an informational system to keep her communities members updated on changes and additions to this beloved historic place.
